The device features a flexible design that allows for various operation modes. A motherboard holds the main microcontroller and provides user interface, by including push-buttons, LEDs, dip-switches and connectors for external systems. A small daughterboard includes the PLM-1 modem and Analog Front End. This card can also be easily integrated in new designs for rapidly adding PLC capability to any application. The system also includes an external power supply unit that provides the required DC power and couples the PLC signals to the AC power lines.

The AC-CPM1 board supports the implementation of automotive standard SAE J2931 and allows automakers and charging station manufacturers to test a prospective communication means for next-generation electric vehicles. The platform is intended for communication on the Control Pilot line of the standardized SAE J1772™ connector. It features Ariane’s proven PLM-1 communication technology implemented on Microsemi’s ProASIC3 low power FPGA. The Analog Front End is optimized for communication on Control Pilot with data rates of 100kbps. The on-board application code is implemented on Renesas 78K0R MCU. CAN, SPI and RS-232 interfaces are included for efficient operation.
