FSK MODULATION
FSK systems always modulate signals, offering a much better signal to noise ratio.

ASK MODULATION
X-10 uses On/Off Keying ASK (OOK ASK). The one symbol is represented by a 1 ms, 120 kHz carrier burst, and the zero symbol is a silence. This type of modulation is noise sensitive: when a silence is transmitted, any in-band noise or tone, even at small amplitudes, can transform a 0 symbol into a 1.
