Load Shedding
The load shedding device is a combination of a PLM-1 chip with a load control circuit that allows partial reduction of the power delivered to incandescent lights. This product was developed in collaboration with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute- Lighting Research Center, for the California Energy Commission.
The purpose of this product is to reduce peak demand requirements when needed. The transition period from and to 100% may be set in order to be virtually unnoticeable. Each device may also have different setpoints and can be controlled individually or in groups using broadcasted commands.
"For existing low-cost PLC chip-based products, the solution with the highest performance/price ratio for complete control applications, including load-shed, was the Ariane Controls system” Richard Pysar, RPI-LRC.
